Tower Crane Rescue Training

Published on:

On-site teams at a major project recently participated in essential Tower Crane Rescue Training, a key aspect of SDC's Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) ethos. The two-day training ensures site teams are fully prepared to act swiftly if a crane operator becomes injured or ill at height.

Tower cranes, while crucial to construction, pose significant risks. To mitigate these, rescue procedures are rigorously practised whenever a crane is erected, reinforcing SDC's commitment to safety. Site team members, including Assistant Site Manager, Management Trainee, Crane Coordinator, and others, participated in the training.

The course covers various scenarios, such as rescuing an operator stranded at height or too ill to descend. With robust rescue plans in place, the teams are well-equipped to ensure everyone's safety.

SDC partnered with trusted subcontractor, Radius, and Intervention Rescue, specialists in technical rescue and safety training. Led by Nick Croudace, a firefighter with over 20 years of experience, the training programme offers cutting-edge techniques and practical expertise. This partnership underlines SDC's dedication to high-quality, regular training, ensuring all personnel are skilled and confident in handling emergencies. The tower crane rescue training exemplifies SDC’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards on all its projects.
