M&E
Our team offers complete M&E services at all scales, covering design, upgrades, and installations.
Expertly Managed
At SDC, the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Department plays a vital role in managing and delivering M&E design, installation, and commissioning throughout every stage of a project.
Led by Director Jonathan Richardson, a team of 20 engineers and managers ensures the seamless integration of M&E components to meet client requirements, enhance performance, and mitigate risks related to cost, quality, and programme.

Early Engagement, Seamless Delivery
From the outset, the department reviews the design to ensure it aligns with client objectives and budgets. Following design development, the team manages sub-contractor procurement, focusing on quality, buildability, and compliance.
During construction, dedicated MEP Project Managers conduct weekly inspections to track progress and ensure project milestones are met, while maintaining high standards of workmanship. The MEP Managers are also responsible for controlling and documenting any changes to the original design, ensuring these modifications are properly evaluated, approved, and implemented.
They oversee the commissioning process to ensure all systems are thoroughly tested, calibrated, and functioning as intended upon completion. Additionally, they facilitate a smooth handover to the client team, ensuring they are fully prepared and knowledgeable to take on the building’s management and operations post-construction.
Post-construction, the MEP Manager conducts seasonal commissioning to verify that the building performs as expected under different environmental conditions, ensuring all systems are optimised for year-round efficiency.

Self-Delivery Model
SDC has the ability to self-deliver the M&E package on a project. This approach adds value by involving early engagement to utilise in-house expertise for handling complex technical solutions. The self-delivery model allows critical path items to move forward rapidly, avoiding the delays typically associated with negotiating large subcontract agreements. It helps lower costs, protect schedules, and ultimately ensures the successful completion of the project.
Advanced practices such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) optimise productivity and coordination, while Soft Landing initiatives deliver end-user education for a smooth transition into completed spaces.
This holistic and proactive approach establishes the M&E Department as a cornerstone of SDC’s ability to deliver successful projects and achieve high levels of client satisfaction.
